You can learn German online just as well as in a normal language course in groups or with private lessons. Of course, that depends a lot on your teacher.
I give private online lessons mainly via Skype. As an private online tutor, I need to have more experience and to be able to teach special topics spontaneously. Many online-platforms help to make the course more flexible and individual. One of their advantages is that I can spontaneously use additional material and vary exercises better than in face-to-face classes.
In the first lesson I introduce the students to the possibilities and make suggestions as to which methods and materials are best suited to them.
